The golden, fluffy balls of the plant are found in many places on the planet. After ripening, in place of the flowers, a fruit is formed from an oblong achene, hairs, about 1.5 mm long. The top is decorated with a tuft of yellow hairs. The total mass (1000 seeds) is 0.06 g.

Mass flowering of sandy immortelle occurs in summer (June, August). In autumn it blooms for the second time. It can be accelerated by cutting off flowers. New baskets are tied in the axils of the apical leaves. The flower remains on the stem for two weeks.

Procurement of medicinal raw materials

In order for immortelle to best reveal its beneficial properties, it is very important to know when to collect the inflorescences and how to dry them.

Important! The main rule for collecting cumin is to have time to do it as soon as the plant blooms. After just a few days, the inflorescences become loose and simply fall off during the harvesting process.

For the workpiece you should choose dry sunny day when there is no moisture on the plant. The flowers are not picked, but cut with a sharp knife so as not to damage the root system of the perennial (a “stump” about 1 cm high should be left above the ground).

You need to lay out the collected raw materials for drying as quickly as possible, since after a couple of hours they will become unusable.

Drying is done in a well-ventilated place, protected from sunlight (it is best to lay flowers on cloth or paper towels).

A sign of the end of drying is that the inflorescences become brittle.

Quick drying in the oven with the door slightly open and at a minimum temperature (not higher than 50 degrees) is allowed, otherwise the medicinal raw materials will lose their beneficial properties and will also crumble greatly.
